We are located in north of Iceland (slightly west of center north).
About 10 Km south of Varmahlíð, about 34 Km south of Sauðárkrókur, 61 Km east of Blönduós, 94 Km west of Akureyri.
You can take the Bus to Varmahlíð, Skagafirði or a flight to Sauðárkrók where we can pick you up. We can also arange for transportation from further a field.
If you are driving from Reykjavík on route 1, you go north towards Akureyri, through Blöndós and just before entering Varmahlíð take a right (to go south) on 752 and after driving aproximately 10 Km on a paved road take a left (to go east) towards Reykir, go over the bridge and take the second right.
Of cousre if you are coming from Akureyri you drive through Varmahlíð and take a left onto 752.
Bakkaflöt is in Steinsstaðabyggð together with a few apartment houses, the meetinghouse Árgarður, a schoolhouse, Steinstaðaskóli and more.
A few summer houses are in the area and some more are in construction. A lot of trees have been planted in the area and now the result of that can be seen.
Bakkaflot is about 300 km from Reykjavík
