The hot tubs and the swimmingpool in Bakkaflöt are perfect to relax at the end of every day of activity.

River Rafting


Rafting in the Eystri Jökulsá river and the Vestari Jökulsá river Unforgettable experience.

Rafting in Austari and Vestari Jökulsá rivers. The two rivers are fed from the Hofsjökull glacier.

From Bakkaflöt you can book trips, get information and obtain suitable clothing (cost included). From here you start your trip. We will drive you to and from the river. The trip in the Austari Jökulsá river lasts 6-7 hours. Refreshments are also included in the price. Passengers on this trip must be at least 18 years old. The trip in the Vestari Jökulsá river lasts 3 hours. Passengers must Be at least 12 years old. Relax in our hot tubs afterwards.

The Island Boat


A cruise from Sauðárkrókur by Drangey, along Málmey to Þórðarhöfði and Hofsós and then back to Sauðárkrókur. The cruise lasts about 3 hours.

Tour to Drangey: With a guide. The trip lasts about 5 hours.

The Island Boat. It is great fun to plough the seas of Skagafjörður, get close to the beautiful islands of Drangey and Malmey, see the birds in the sea cliffs and listen to old folkstories. Þórðarhöfði is incredible. Begin your cruise from either Sauðárkrókur or Hofsós.

Without landing the tour takes 3 hours.
With landings the tour takes 4-6 hours.

Hikes, fishing, Reykjamuseum


Interesting walks: for example up Mælifellshnjúkur (1138m), Merkigil in Austurdal, Glóðafeykir and Tindastóll.

Reykir is at 1 km distance from Bakkaflöt. There is a museum in a turf-built farmhouse which is a property of a farmer Kristján Jóhannsson
